It’s the last Monday of the month, and you know what that means?
What do you mean you don’t know?
The last Monday of each Month is Made-It-Up Monday.
I throw out a 100% made-up word and ask you to:
- define it
- provide its part of speech, and
- use the word in a sentence that indicates how the word could be used.
Why? Because it’s fun.
And because someone gave me the book The Meaning of Tingo and Other Extraordinary Words From Around the World.
Did you know that in Japan, the word “bakku-shan” means “the experience of seeing a woman who appears pretty from behind but not from the front”?
Somehow, I’m guessing that is not a real popular word with the ladies.
Anyway, I can’t find the right word on the word-shelf to fit my mood or predicament, I just make one up.
The last time we did this the word was HUFFALOFTUS.
Remember, the first person to use the word even remotely close to the way I do shall receive linky-love. And by that, I mean I will announce your identity in the next Made-It-Up Monday post next month and link up to your blog, so folks can head over and check out your stuff.

It’s a word used to describe moody teenagers. Not the kind that answer back, or the kind that glower at you from the back of the class. The kind that put on their headphones and ignore everything. “The boy was not insolent, he was sullen and indicult. The school master didn’t know what to do with him”.

i.e. The mother found herself in an indicult situation when her 3-year-old told told a stranger in the grocery store that she “had a lot of pimples.”

Noun. A cult without external funding or support. Unlike the traditional cult route, social media platforms are vital (not simply useful) and publicity is all up to members. On the positive side, they reap 100% of proceeds and can say whatever they want.

Indicult – noun. A tightly knit group of authors who self-publish their books. Rather than seek a traditional agent or publisher, she joined the indicult.
Also used as an adjective to describe the works of those authors. Her indicult series “The Huffaloftus Chronicles” became so popular it was turned into a series of made-for-television movies.

Indicult – adjective. It is how a very pregnant mother of two small children describes her day to her husband when he comes home. It’s etymology is unique to mothers who’ve completely lost the ability to form coherent sentences, and the word is thought to have originated from an inadvertent blending of the words “indecently” and “difficult.”

Indicult: (noun) a group of people so obsessed with car racing they follow drivers around to various competitions (likened to Grateful Dead “deadheads”). Tony became so fanatical about NASCAR that he joined the indicult.
