I am Renée A. Schuls-Jacobson.

The girl with the ridiculously long name.

I know. It is a mouthful, and no one ever calls me all of that, so you can just call me Renée. Or Nay. Or if you want to get all fancy and French, you can call me Née.

I can tell you are digging me and you’d like to take our cyber friendship to the next level.

I’m so glad you asked!

When my son was a wee thing, I started my own business as a professional organizer. In helping people to organize their external messes, I witnessed the strong (and often irrational) connection people sometimes have to certain physical possessions.

Now in my 40s and muddling through a divorce, I’ve been forced to face my own invisible messes, including my horrifying experience withdrawing from Klonopin, a highly addictive psychiatric medication, which I started taking in 2005.

After 30 months of intense suffering, I’ve been resurrected – a phoenix, come from the ashes, ready to battle doctors and big Pharma, while offering empathic support to those still suffering protracted withdrawal symptoms.

I also write about divorce and, sometimes, I post pictures of my artwork.

A perfectionist by nature, I still like everything in its place.

And yet.

I am learning to find beauty in the chaos.

Because it’s true.

Life doesn’t fit in a file folder.

    I found your blog through your piece about what to give for a bat mitzvah gift. We just celebrated my daughter’s bat mitzvah on Saturday, and I’m de-stressing now. She did fabulous, the party was fabulous, and every gift was cash or checks, with the exception of 1 i-tunes gift card and some earrings from 2 of her friends. She loved both of those gifts, but she did appreciate the money as well. She knows its for her future. Anyway, I’m enjoying your blog; will keep following.

    Hi Renée – I too, found your blog when helping a fellow Gentile friend determine what would be an appropriate gift for her husband’s boss’ son’s bar mitzvah. (Yikes – say THAT three times fast!) And as I read a few other posts, I absolutely fell in love with your written voice. So now in my head we’re fast friends.       Professor Taboo: Thank you for continuing to stand by me in 2015. This year has been AWFUL, but you have helped me to continue to believe in myself. Every day, I’m feeling a little bit stronger. I’m a good person, a good friend, an artist and a writer ~ a seer. I’m going to come thru this thing, I am.
